My niece Little K might still be a baby, but she was fascinated when we were playing video games after Thanksgiving dinner. After her cousins left she grabbed one of the controllers and tried to play. While she doesn't have the motor skills yet, she was honestly trying her hardest to figure it all out. She might be able to understand the WiiU the next Thanksgiving.

Grace Kelly was an American actress with quite the notable career. She even won a Oscar, however she quit acting at the age of 26. She did so because she married the Prince of Monaco, and became a member of their royalty.

It's hard to believe it's been six years since Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but it's sequel is finally here. It was the main reason I got a WiiU, and I didn't expect anything less than greatness. Luckily the new Super Smash Bros. might lack a proper subtitle, but it's evolves the series and fixes the issues of Brawl as well.
Douglas MacArthur was one of the most notable generals during World War II, and his father Arthur MacArthur Jr. was also a general in the army decades before. The two were the first father and son to both receive the Medal of Honor.

About a decade ago, I was among the youngest generation at the family Thanksgiving gathering. So the living room would often have some random football game on, with everyone pretending like they cared. But my brother Zach hosted Thanksgiving at his house this year, so I brought over my WiiU. We were playing Super Smash Bros. and having so much fun. Zach's wife Tiffany's nephews were also playing the game, and I told them to focus their efforts in defeating whatever character Zach had during the match. Their skill level was almost nothing so it didn't really matter, but it was to annoy my brother.
During a 1953 NFL game, Otto Graham received a serious injury to his face. He returned with a plastic face mask attached to his helmet. This led face masks to become modernized, and a standard for every football player from the NFL to the little leagues.

While the story of the first Thanksgiving describes the people on the Mayflower ship looking a new place for religious freedom, they ironically didn't practice much tolerance themselves. One of the senior leaders, Edward Winslow returned to England to serve in government when the Puritan Oliver Cromwell abolished the monarchy. Cromwell was no friend to Catholics for example, and made many conquests in Ireland for political and religious reasons. Cromwell became one of the most hated men in Irish history.
I'd like to wish all my American friends a Happy Thanksgiving today. Even though it's my least favorite major holiday, I do hope to enjoy mine. I don't care if you're not really thankful on Thursday as long as you don't act stupid on Friday.

My brother took this photo the other day of my niece Little K in her "boat". She was probably trying to sail away from Santa. She saw Mr. Claus that day and started crying. Which isn't unexpected, Little K hates new people.
The English word for Turkey actually comes from the bird known as the Guinea Fowl. The bird was known as a turkey as it was imported in the country of Turkey. The name was then given accidentally to the birds that are native to North America.

While I've never read the books, I've been a fan of the series since the first movie back in 2012. For the final book, they decided for the movie version to be in two parts. Which I'm rather glad as not much of the story would be left out.

While she had no idea what The Hunger Games was until I told her to watch the first movie with me, Daisy became a big fan of the series. She read all the books, and today we got done watching Mockingay: Part 1. Like the last two movies, she really did like it.

Even as a kid, I don't think I've ever seen Mr. Mom. The only reason I even know about it is that it's one of Michael Keaton's earliest works. When Ben Affleck was announced to play the new Batman, someone noted that were serious fan protests over Micheal Keaton becoming Batman back in 1989. Most them saying that Mr. Mom would not be a good Batman. After 1989 most people thought Keaton was a great Batman, but is Mr. Mom a good movie?

Even though I'm a video game nerd, I'll admit that the industry doesn't have as much innovation as it used to. However Super Smash Bros. just came out, and I haven't been so excited to play a game in a long time. It was my push to get a WiiU, which hasn't done as well as I had hoped. I sadly will have to wait a few days for Super Smash Bros. to arrive at my house. However I already have Super Mario 3D World and Nintendoland to entertain me until then.

While popcorn is more traditional, it's not my favorite. I like popcorn, but I don't love it either. If I had to pick I'd say my favorite snack for movies would probably be some type of gummy candy. Though since my fiancee Daisy likes popcorn we usually just end up getting that instead.

As I mentioned several days ago, a federal judge ruled in favor of marriage equality per the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment. SC's Attorney General Alan Wilson tried to fight the court decision, but the Supreme Court of the United States denied it. Back before 1967 (Loving v. Virginia) SC had a law that would prevent me and Daisy from getting married because I'm Caucasian and she's Asian. Social-conservatives call it "legislating from the bench", but you can not deny civil liberties protected by the U.S. Constitution. I'm glad that now everyone in my state of South Carolina has the same right as I do. Which is the right to marry the person they love.
Due to hunting and loss of habitats, the wild turkey almost went extinct about a century ago. Though a restoration project took place soon afterwards to protect the wild turkeys. Their conservation status today is "least concern".

I never heard of Witness as it is quite an old movie. Harrison Ford is one of my favorite actors, so it wasn't difficult to convince me to see it. A friend recommended I watch it, and it took me some time to get to it but I finally did.
During the Korean War, there were two Marine Corps pilots who served side by side. One of them Ted Williams, was one of the MLB's best baseball players. The other John Glenn, became one of the world's first astronauts, and was also a U.S. Senator.

In 12th grade at my high school, we sat outside for lunch. Two of the guys at our table forgot to bring index cards for a class that was later that day. They really needed to have some, so one of them goes inside the cafeteria and asks everyone if they have any extra. While he was doing that, another guy at the table finds a whole pack that he doesn't need or want. So when he gets back, I ask him if I could see the index cards and I rip them in half right in front of him. For a second, he was in horror and anger and got some karma as he punched me in the arm. I then revealed the index cards we had saved for him, and then he just felt stupid.
Charles Darwin's visit to the Galapagos Islands contributed greatly to him discovering evolution by natural selection. The islands are also well known for its giant tortoises, and Charles Darwin apparently had a few as pets. One of them was apparently called Harriet, and she lived to the age of 175. She passed away in 2006 at a zoo in Australia.

As I mentioned since the death of Robin Williams, I've been catching up on all his films that I had missed. I don't even remember World's Greatest Dad coming out in 2009, but eventually learned of it a few years ago. Unlike some of his works, this one has plenty of dark humor.
While the American flag that was put on the moon is still there, it's not exactly gone undamaged. Extreme temperature changes, along with harsh UV radiation from the Sun has made the flag lose its color. Now it's more of a pale white than the beautiful flag it was in 1969.

While Call of Duty dethroned Medal of Honor as everyone's favorite war-based FPS, I wanted to give the somewhat recent Warfighter a try. I was hoping that it would be a decent alternative to the best Call of Duty games. I was wrong!
The First Continental Congress was a series of meetings that preceded the American Revolution. While delegates to the Congress did not openly rebel against King George III, they did seriously address many issues they had with him. Georgia was the only colony to send no delegates as they were afraid doing so would lose them British soldiers they needed to help fight a Native America tribe.

I remember my friend Phillip telling me this story from his childhood. His dad had a lawn mower, and his sisters decided to write Phillip's name on it with some spray paint. The funny thing is that they spelled his name wrong, but his dad still thought he did it. Even after he explained why it didn't make sense.
In 1977 there was a radio signal detected that lasted about 72 seconds. While nobody could figure out the meaning of it, the importance of it was that it came from outer space. Scientist believe it originated around the Chi Sagittarii star group.

I remember games based on game shows back in the 90's. They were often fairly terrible, and sometimes not even close to how the TV show was. But with modern technology, they can now get pretty darn close. THQ made a version of Jeopardy I really liked, so I wondered if Wheel of Fortune was any good.
In 1950 Detroit, Michigan was in its prime, but due to harsh economic struggles it has declined in every decade since. Despite a growing U.S. population, Detroit lost a quarter of its population between 2000 and 2010 alone.

No matter how good it is, food you cook in a home oven just doesn't taste as good as from a restaurant. I always prefer to take my food home because not only is it less expensive but I also can watch TV or a movie while I eat. I also dislike having waiters especially when the restaurant is a buffet. I'd rather walk 20 feet to refill my drink, than wait for someone to come along and do it for me. Daisy however loves to go to the restaurants where she can sit down at a table.
So what about you?
While moons orbit planets, and planets orbit suns, it also seems that galaxies can orbit other galaxies. Our Milky Way Galaxy is the center galaxy that has many satellite galaxies. The biggest is the Large Magellanic Cloud which is almost 160,000 light years from Earth.

While I don't live in a liberal state, I'm glad to see a judge rule in favor of marriage equality in South Carolina. South Carolina and the Southern United States in general have always been behind the times, and it would of been several decades for any hope outside of a judicial decision. While a federal judge found it unconstitutional, they do have until the 20th for the state government to make an appeal. Since the Supreme Court has refused to hear such cases, it makes it rather pointless. Yet our Governor and Attorney General wants to be on the wrong side of history and fight the decision.
While I had no part in the joke back in high school, I do remember seeing it unfold though I didn't know the whole details until it was over. It was during our classes' time in the school library when we were doing research for some kind of project. Two of the guys in class decided to hide a book inside a girl's book bag. She luckily found out because if she didn't she would of made the doors beep. I'm glad she knew something was up, but I do admire the genius of what those guys were trying to do. The book was about what do if you're a pregnant teenager, and if they weren't foiled she would of had quite the talk with her parents over something that wasn't true.
Masabumi Hosono was the only Japanese passenger on the Titanic when the ship sunk. He survived, and returned to Japan where he was called a coward by the newspapers for not going down with the ship. It apparently had nothing to do with a Samurai-like code of honor, but the fact that he ignored the concept of women and children first. 162 women and children went down with the Titanic on its maiden voyage.

My mother was never too keen on keeping up with home improvement projects. In fact her philosophy was to pretend it didn't exist. Take our front porch for example, which was uglier than anything. The only thing good about it was if I needed to water my tomato plant, I didn't have to worry about splashing water and dirt making a mess.
During World War II, Daniel Inouye was seriously wounded in Italy but disregarded his own personal safety and led his platoon to successfully defeat Axis soldiers. When he returned home, he later was elected to represent Hawaii as a Democratic congressman and later a senator. In 2000, Inouye along with 21 other Asian-American World War II veterans received the Medal of Honor as it was discovered that prejudiced officials gave them lesser honors in the 1940's.

I remember back in the days of CD players of those big headphones that were the only thing available. But my favorite had been the little "ear-buds" that is standard in the age of MP3 players. Though I only like the regular version of those, not those special ones that try to get close to the ear drum as possible.

In the 18th century, the Crab Nebula was discovered which is about 6,523 light years from Earth. The Nebula is actually believed to been created by a supernova, which is the death of a star. Except we actually know when the supernova was visible to Earth as it was seen in 1054, most notably by astronomers in China.

I vaguely remember Galaxy Quest coming out in the very late 90's, but I know I never saw it. It's basically a parody of Star Trek and their fans. Though Trekkies took it quite well, and it even got many compliments from former Star Trek actors. Patrick Stewart (who played Captain Picard) said he initially didn't want to see it but after watching it said "I found it was brilliant. Brilliant. No one laughed louder or longer in the cinema than I did". If that's not a compliment, then I don't know what is.
After the death of King Edward IV of England, his young son was made King at the age of 13. His uncle was made Lord Protector to rule in his place until he reached a proper age. Except shortly after, his parent's marriage was ruled to be invalid, leaving his Uncle to take the throne as Richard III. Afterwards the former King Edward V was never seen again.

For several years I had heard of Game of Thrones, but never got much of a chance to see it. After watching a little bit of season one amazed me enough. By the end of it though, I'm a huge fan of the series. I finally get why the series is so beloved and cherished. This season is based on the book A Clash of Kings in the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
